CDB President Meets New PM From Grenada

President of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr Hyginus “Gene” Leon, had his first official meeting with the newly elected Prime Minister of Grenada, the Honorable Dickon Mitchell during a courtesy visit to Grenada this week. During the meeting, Dr Leon underscored CDB’s ongoing support for Grenada’s sustainable development agenda and pledged to work closely with the new administration. The CDB President also congratulated Prime Minister Mitchell on his assumption of office and said the Bank welcomes the fresh ideas and thinking that the new Prime Minister and his team will bring to regional leadership and the development conversation. Prime Minister Mitchell said, “We regard the CDB as a key regional resource in Grenada’s transformation agenda, and as such we look forward to continuing and strengthening our relationship with the organization. There is much we can achieve together as we move Grenada and the region forward.” During the wide-ranging dialogue, President Leon commended PM Mitchell for his focus on youth and the inclusion of youth in the leadership of the government. Discussions also covered the urgent need for digital transformation as a critical enabler for social and economic development and the need for reforms in the education sector to equip young people with the skills to propel the digital economy.
