DAIC Urges Private Sector to Implement Business Continuity Plans

The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) strongly urges the Private Sector and the Public Sector to take proactive measures in safeguarding all lives, resources and operations due to the threat of the 2022 Hurricane Season. Due to the impending weather disturbance, DAIC encourages the Private Sector to activate all Business Continuity Plans to ensure minimal disruptions.

Over the recent months, DAIC has shared various insights on business preparation for various risks and hazards. DAIC emphasizes the current multi-hazard environment that experiences greater and intensified risks. As such, DAIC encourages that in reviewing and updating all business continuity and crisis management plans, considerations should be given to all other risks including the pandemic to ensure adequate preparation for a quick return to normal operations within a shorter time frame.

DAIC as a Member of the network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM) advises all businesses to access and update all Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) made available through the CARICHAM Business Resilience Toolkit.

Special consideration should also be given to the most vulnerable employees or employees with vulnerable family members. Access the toolkit including the Family Friendly BCP Supplementary Checklist at https://www.caribbeanchambers.net/caricham-bcp.
