D’Marsh Couture Fall 2020 Collection Inspired by African Heritage

NEW YORK, NY – February 06, 2019 – With activities to mark Black History Month infull swing, House of D’Marsh is set to unveil its Fall 2020 collection during New York Fashion Week (NYFW), February 8-16, 2019. Patrons attending the presentation will be in for a treat as the Jamaican-born New York based designer will present Sankoda by D’Marsh on Monday, February 11 at 6:00 pm at The High School of Fashion Industries in New York City.

According to March, the inspiration for this season’s collection comes from his ancestral heritage. In designing this collection, he noted that it was important to reflect on the past and bring it all together in a cohesive manner to prepare for the future. “It was the great orator, journalist, entrepreneur and Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey who said, “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” Having traveled to the motherland twice in the past year, this provided a unique opportunity to explore my roots. The experience reminded me so much of home in Jamaica, so I decided to dedicate this collection to my Asante tribe.”

March notes that in an effort to foster greater diversity and inclusion, designer JingJie Wang from China will debut her new Angel Designer collection, a set of mom daughter dresses designed by the mother and daughter duo. This new concept gives moms and daughters quality bonding time by designing their own beautiful dresses together. The designer’s appearance is made possible through the partnership support of China US Fashion Week (CUFW) which helps to provide exposure for aspiring Chinese designers in New York.

This year’s presentation has been made possible through the sponsorship support of Bryte Africa, Caribbean American Fashion Exchange, Caribbean Food Delights, China US Fashion Week, Dream Castle Villa, E4 Models, Fashion Mingle, and Sam’s Caribbean Supermarket. Other sponsors include Carsten Institute of Cosmetology New York, which will provide hair and makeup.
