New York Area Teams Compete as Second Season of Minor League Cricket Championship Begins

WHAT: As cricket popularity grows in the U.S., experience the action firsthand as America’s first and only nationwide T20 championship returns for its second season starting June 25! The most extensive competition in American cricket history, the Toyota Minor League Cricket Championship presented by Sunoco will feature more than 200 matches over 10 weekends of competitive play in the Twenty20 format loved by cricket fans around the world, all in advance of the World Cup coming to America in 2024.

The top two teams in each division will qualify for the Conference Semi-finals August 20-21. The winners of the four Conference Semi-final matchups will advance to MiLC Finals Weekend August 27-28.

WHEN & WHERE: 26 participating teams will compete for the championship across four geographic divisions – Eastern, Central, Southern and Western – over eight weekends of regular season play, with over 200 matches set to take place in 20 cities nationwide, including the below upcoming schedule at Idlewild Park (James Brown Pl. &, Brookville Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11430):

FREE TO ATTEND! All matches are free to attend for spectators, as Minor League Cricket looks to give the community an opportunity to get a taste of the second largest sport in the world!
PLAYERS: Team rosters for the 2022 season feature the strongest talent available in American cricket. Each team features two marquee players, often with international-level pedigrees playing overseas. Teams also roster multiple young American players to develop the next generation of homegrown stars.
The primary aim of the tournament is to give a platform and opportunity for the best cricketers in America to showcase their abilities at a national level and build cricket in communities across the country.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR? MiLC’s inaugural season in 2021 was won by the Silicon Valley Strikers last October. The Bay Area team, captained by Unmukt Chand, defeated the New Jersey Stallions at the final held in Morrisville, North Carolina at Church Street Park.
