November 25, 2024 – Renowned actress, singer, and advocate Sheryl Lee Ralph, OJ, has been named 2024 Person of the Year in the Jamaicans.com Annual Best of Jamaica Awards, marking a milestone in the 25th anniversary of this prestigious recognition. Known for her exceptional talent and deep Jamaican heritage, Ralph continues to inspire audiences globally while championing her Caribbean roots.
The daughter of Jamaican fashion icon Ivy Ralph, creator of the Kariba suit, and American professor Stanley Ralph, Sheryl Lee Ralph was raised between Mandeville, Jamaica, and Long Island, New York. She has proudly woven her Jamaican identity into her illustrious career, which spans decades of excellence in film, television, and theater.
As we celebrate this 25th milestone year of the Best of Jamaica Awards, we are equally excited to spotlight an incredible array of winners across diverse categories.
These awards honor excellence in Jamaican culture, food, business, entertainment, and tourism, with nominees and winners selected from the USA, UK, Canada, and Jamaica. This year, we’re introducing two special categories: Judges’ Pick and Merit Recognition, highlighting individuals and entities whose remarkable impact deserves special acknowledgment.
Ms. Ralph and other winners will be honored at an Awards Celebration, which will be held at the Miramar Cultural Center Gardens. The event will be hosted by Miramar Commissioner Yvette Colbourne and will showcase the vibrant talent, culture, and innovation that define Jamaican communities worldwide. The celebration will also be broadcast live on Jamaicans.com’s Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube platforms, inviting viewers globally to join in the festivities.
