Tribute to Kenny Phillip, Unrelenting Advocate for Saint Lucia!

The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York joins the Saint Lucia House Foundation and members of the New York Saint Lucian community in honoring the life and many contributions of fellow Saint Lucian, Kenny Phillip, who died suddenly on Friday, September 23, at his home in Brooklyn.

Jeremiah Hyacinth, Saint Lucia’s Consul General in New York, described Philip as “certainly one of the most patriotic Saint Lucians I’d ever come across, for he participated in any and everything Saint Lucian. He was truly an illustrious Son of the Soil.”

Hyacinth added that Phillip was an avid supporter of numerous charitable initiatives, in particular those aimed at benefiting less fortunate Saint Lucians back home. He called Philip’s passing a tremendous loss, saying he “prays that God will grant [Philip’s] family and friends the fortitude to bear this loss, and grant his soul eternal rest.”

In paying tribute to Phillip, Mathias Wilkie, president of the Saint Lucia House Foundation, said, “We have lost a quiet giant.” He also stated that Phillip was an ardent supporter of his organization, recalling that he’d attended the fish-fry fundraiser, every Friday, this past summer.

On behalf of Saint Lucians in the diaspora, the Consulate General of Saint Lucia and the Saint Lucia House Foundation extend heartfelt condolences to Kenny Phillip’s beloved wife, his children, and his friends.
