Urgent Request for Proper Investigation into the Murder of Sarah Smith and Her Children Genuine and Saballie Smith

I write to you as a devastated father appealing for urgent attention to the tragic and brutal murder of my beloved children, Genuine and Saballie Smith, along with their mother, Sarah Smith.

This tragic event occurred in the village of Parlatuvier on the island of Tobago, and it remains shrouded in grief and unanswered questions.

On the morning of September 11th, Sarah was reported missing following a troubling message from a former neighbor. The outcome was horrific despite our immediate efforts, including alerting search and rescue teams. Sarah and the children were found later that day, but the aftermath has been nothing short of a nightmare.

In the days that followed, a wave of rumors surfaced—claims that Sarah was “mad” and walked the streets naked and misguided accusations regarding my commitment as a father. These assertions are far from the truth. Distraught and disheartened, I returned to Trinidad, only to face further indignities, including mistreatment from immigration officials. It was only through the intervention of community advocate Mr. Ian Alleyne that I was permitted entry into the country to lay my children to rest.

To date, this case has not been investigated with the seriousness it demands. There have been no arrests despite clear signs of foul play. I inspected the bodies of my children and their mother, and the findings were chilling—blunt force trauma, significant injuries, and evidence suggesting a brutal assault. The autopsy revealed severe head trauma, and I found inconsistencies in the forensic examinations that raised serious concerns. The circumstances surrounding their deaths require a thorough investigation, and yet there seems to be a troubling apathy among authorities.

I am imploring the Trinidad and Tobago community members and the international media to shine a light on this horrific crime. Observing how witnesses and friends have gone into hiding and their accounts either inconsistent or conflicting is distressing. Disturbingly, an individual described as “old man Chit” has allegedly boasted about his unassailability while implicated in this tragic chain of events.

I seek justice not only for my children and their mother but also for the truth to surface. I am calling on anyone in authority to take immediate action. It is imperative that we hold accountable those responsible for this monstrous crime. My appeal is a cry for help as I struggle to uncover the truth about the violent end that befell Sarah and my precious children.

The decomposing bodies were discovered on September 11th, 2024; the pathologist also determined this date as the date of death. These death certificates are available upon request. To date, nobody in Trinidad or Tobago has reached out to support or offer condolences to me, Sarah’s two remaining sons, or her mother.
