Countdown to the GIMIES Tourism Awards slated for February 2023

The national spotlight will fall on outstanding tourism players when the Saint Lucia Ministry of Tourism stages the inaugural Gimies Tourism Awards early next year to honour various invaluable contributions towards the island’s global recognition as a leading Caribbean tourist destination. The Gimies is a collaborative effort involving the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLTHA) and Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA).

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Dr. Ernest Hilaire, explained: “Our aim is to recognize the outstanding work that ordinary Saint Lucians are doing in their own way as the island continues, year after year, to be singled out in this hemisphere and globally as a tourist market second to none.” CEO of the SLTA, Ms. Lorine Charles St. Jules, said the agency is thrilled that the exceptional work of those who go above and beyond the call of duty to make Saint Lucia the destination of choice, will be highlighted for the world to see. Members of the public are invited to visit the Ministry’s website https://slutourism. govt.lc/ to find out how they can nominate fellow country men and women working in tourism for receipt of the prestigious accolade.
