Dr. Freezers, 79, has passed

The St. Lucia business community is mourning the passing of Conrad Darius James, popularly known as Dr. Freezers.

St. Lucia Times quotes family members saying that James passed away suddenly on Saturday at his Bonne Terre home.

The online publication goes on to note that the Castries businessman along with his wife launched the Dr. Freezer’s ice cream parlor and fast-food outlet on High Street 39 years ago.

After the first Dr. Freezer’s outlet opened on High Street, the late businessman’s son, Darren James, would later open two additional outlets.

The idea to call the business Dr. Freezer’s came from the name brand of an ice cream-making machine the late businessman and his wife bought when they started.

Conrad Darius James has left to mourn his wife, four children and six grandchildren among others.

Dr. Freezers was 79.
