New Governance Training Scholarship for Caribbean non-profits

By: Caribbean Business Report

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Governance Training Institute (CGTI) is excited to announce a new collaboration with the J.Q. Charles Group of Companies to offer the Caribbean’s first scholarship aimed at board members of registered not-for-profit (NFP) organizations. The purpose of the ‘Not-For-Profit Directors’ Scholarship’ is to bring knowledge of governance best practices to the boards of NFPs in the Caribbean region. Eligibility will be needs- and merit-based, so board members who apply will be required to convey how governance education will benefit their organization; priority will also be given to equity seeking organizations that serve under-represented segments of the Caribbean population. According to CGTI Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Charles, the importance of supporting governance training on the boards of not-for-profit organizations must not be underestimated, and the ripple effect can positively impact organizational stability and sustainability to continue the crucial work they do in Caribbean communities. All sessions are led by CGTI’s Executive Chairman & Principal, Dr. Chris Bart FCPA, F. CIoD, C.Dir., with topics covering Principles of Good Governance; Roles, Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Culture; The Essentials of Financial Oversight; Strategic Thinking vs Strategic Planning; Risk Oversight; and Succession Planning. Interested NFP board members should call CGTI at +1 758 731 3093 or email info@caribbeangovernancetraining.com for more information.
