PM Pierre Introduces $1.8 Billion Dollar Budget; Debates in April

The Standing Finance Committee of Parliament has scrutinized the 2024 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure as presented by the Minister for Finance and Prime Minister Philip J Pierre.

The Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Financial Year 2024/2025 stands at One Billion, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, One Hundred and Ten Thousand, Eight Hundred Dollars ($1,894,110,800.00).

The Prime Minister declared 2024 as the Year of Infrastructure. He earmarked 30 infrastructural projects to be tackled over the next financial year.

They include road expansion and repair programs, to the construction of a National Aquatic Centre, housing developments in Roseau, Cas-en-Bas, and Choc.

The government intends to complete the Custody Suites. The Halls of Justice and the Control Tower at Hewanorra International Airport and undertake Community Tourism Projects.

The Appropriations Bill, which is the Policy Statement of the Government of Saint Lucia will be presented by the finance minister on April 23rd, 2024, followed by the debate on April 25th and April 26th, 2024.
