Pastor Michael Grady Testifies About Ending the gun Violence Epidemic in America

WASHINGTON – A distinguished member of the Border Network for Human Rights (BNHR) board of directors, Pastor Michael Grady, will be testifying today at 10 a.m. ET before the House Committee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security about reducing gun violence in the United States.

In addition to the BNHR board, Grady also serves as a pastor at the Prince of Peace Christian Fellowship, coordinator at the El Paso Chapter of the Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, and co-chair of the El Paso Police Department Accountability Task Force.

“Pastor Grady has built a reputation for being knowledgeable about public safety in our communities. We are happy to see such a treasured member of the BNHR community be recognized by this distinguished committee, with members like Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and Congresswoman Val Demings, former police chief of Orlando,” said Fernando Garcia, executive director of BNHR

Grady’s testimony can be read on Giffords.org, the gun violence foundation set up by former U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords and Senator Mike Kelly of Arizona.

“It is Mental Health Awareness Month. As the father of a victim of the Walmart shooting, I feel chosen and obligated to testify before this powerful committee that family members and law enforcement officers need to have the chance to prevent someone showing signs of dangerous behavior or suicidality from possessing or purchasing firearms,” reads an excerpt from the impactful testimony.
